<p>The first method is to weave in your personal touch in your message. Nobody wants to buy from a total stranger, but many people will buy what their close friends recommend to them &#8212; word of mouth is very powerful. If you can convince your audience that you are a personal friend who has their best interest at heart, they will be convinced to buy your products. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In this project, we improved the search engine rank for a Healthcare  Company for 10 keywords that were important for the client&#8217;s business using our Internet Marketing expertise.</p>
<p>Search engine rank is important today because at least 50% users select from the top 3 search results. And people are going to search engines as a starting point for most of their market research before making any purchase. Thus, for any business today that is not having a big brand already, search engine ranking matters a lot, and a higher position in search results can result in much more traffic and increased sales.</p>
<p>The project involved studying the search keywords, search preferences and trends, and competition. Then the client website was improved with additional text content to provide more details about its products using: <a title="Website Content Development" href="../website-content-development/">Website Content Development</a> ; and meta-tagging to enable search engines to index the website updates.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Rule 1:  Your web site should be easy to read. </strong>What does this mean? You should choose your text and background colours very carefully. You don&#8217;t want to use backgrounds that obscure your text or use colours that are hard to read. Dark-coloured text on a light-coloured background is easier to read than light-coloured text on a dark background. Don&#8217;t go for style over ease of reading, unless you have a night club or bar as your business, or maybe perfumes or watches.</p>
<p>You also don&#8217;t want to set your text size too small (hard to read). Keep the alignment of your main text to the left, not centered. Centre-aligned text is best used in headlines. You want your visitors to be comfortable with what they are reading, and most text is left aligned.</p>
<p><strong>Rule 2: Your web site should be easy to navigate</strong>: All of your hyperlinks should be clear to your visitors. Graphic images, such as buttons or tabs, should be clearly labeled and easy to read. Your web graphic designer should select the colours, backgrounds, textures, and special effects on your web graphics very carefully. It is more important that your navigational buttons and tabs be easy to read and understand than to have &#8220;flashy&#8221; effects. Link colours in your text should be familiar to your visitor (blue text usually indicates an unvisited link and purple or maroon text usually indicates a visited link), if possible. If you elect not to use the default colours, your text links should be emphasized in some other way (boldfaced, a larger font size, set between small vertical lines, or a combination of these). Text links should be unique &#8211; they should not look the same as any other text in your web pages.</p>
<p>Test: Your visitors should be able to find what they are looking for in your site within three clicks. If not, they are very likely to click off your site as quickly as they clicked on.</p>
<p><strong>Rule 3: Your website should be easy to find</strong>: How are your visitors finding you online? The myth, &#8220;If I build a web site, they will come,&#8221; is still a commonly held belief among companies and organisations new to the Internet. People will not come to your web site unless you promote your site both online and offline.</p>
<p>Web sites are promoted online via search engines, directories, award sites, banner advertising, electronic magazines (e-zines) and links from other web sites. If you are not familiar with any of these online terms, then it is best that to have your site promoted by online marketing professional like us.</p>
<p>Web sites are promoted offline via the conventional advertising methods: print ads, radio, television, brochures, word-of-mouth, etc. Once you have created a web site, all of your company&#8217;s printed materials including business cards, letterhead, envelopes, invoices, etc. should have your URL printed on them.</p>
<p><strong>Rule 4: Your contact information should be easy to find on your website. </strong>People like to know that there is a person at the other end of a web site who can help them in the event that:<br />
1. They need answers to questions which are not readily available on your web site;<br />
2. Some element on your site is not working and end users need to be able to tell you about it, and<br />
3. Directory editors need you to modify parts of your site to be sure that your site is placed in the most relevant category.</p>
<p>By giving all relevant contact information (physical address, telephone numbers, fax numbers, and email address), you are also creating a sense of security for your end users. They can contact you in the way that makes them feel the most comfortable.</p>
<p><strong>Rule 5: Web page layout should be consistent throughout the site  &#8212; to the extent possible. But give priority to business requirement than to website looks.</strong> If you need to show a something as a large image (say a design or layout or blueprint), so be it. But make sure to provide a link for clicking back to the Home Page or the relevant page from where the visitor would have come to this non-standard page.</p>
<p>Just as in any document formatted on a word processor or as in any brochure, newsletter, or newspaper formatted in a desktop publishing program, all graphic images and elements, typefaces, headings, and footers should remain consistent throughout your web site. Consistency and coherence in any document, whether it is a report or a set of web pages, project a professional image.</p>
<p>For example, if you use a drop shadow as a special effect in your bullet points, you should use drop shadows in all of your bullets. Link-colours should be consistent throughout your web pages. Typefaces and background colours, too, should remain the same throughout your site.</p>
<p>Colour-coded web pages, in particular, need this consistency. Typefaces, alignment in the main text and the headings, background effects, and the special effects on graphics should remain the same. Only the colours should change.</p>
<p><strong>Rule 6: Your web site should load fast: </strong>Studies have indicated that visitors will quickly lose interest in your web site if the majority of a page does not download within 15 seconds. (Artists&#8217; pages should have a warning at the top of their pages.) Even web sites that are marketed to high-end users need to consider download times.  If your business does not have good brand name recognition, it is best to keep your download time as short as possible.</p>
<p>A good application of this rule is adding animation to your site because animation graphics tend to be large files. Test the download time of your pages first. If the download time of your page is relatively short and the addition of animation does not unreasonably increase the download time of your page, then and ONLY then should animation be a consideration.</p>
<p>Finally, before you consider the personal preferences of your web page design, you should consider all of the above rules FIRST and adapt your personal preferences accordingly. The attitude &#8220;I don&#8217;t like how it looks&#8221; should always be secondary to your web site&#8217;s function. Which is more important: creative expression/corporate image or running a successful business that is liked by your visitors and prospective customers? There is a reason behind the simple white design of Google, and they are as successful as anyone can ever be.</p>

<p>The points covered here have been asked by various clients and partners in the last few months, and a post to summarize them should help everyone.</p>
<p>What we have seen in our experience of advising over 100 businesses is that almost 95% of them do not use their website an effective Sales and Marketing tool, and that’s why they are unknowingly leaving a lot of money on the table.</p>
<p>For example, today, many prospects come to our websites when they hear about our services or products, and our website has to be ready to engage any visitor, and also provide answers to all the common questions that any visitor/prospect would be expecting, to increase the interest in the products and services that you are offering.</p>
<p>Now this may look very logical, but the fact is that 95% of the websites that we have come across are not able to do this, and so chances are high that your own business website may be lagging in this aspect.</p>
<p>Some of the things that you should really consider to check if your website is really interesting and effective in Sales &amp; Marketing are the following:</p>
<p>First and most important input for your website is the navigation – keep it simple and intuitive.</p>
<p>Navigation is one of the places where most websites falter.  The navigation seems to become very complex in most B2C and B2B services and visitors don’t have a clue how to trace back a particular URL or how to save a given URL because when you have complex navigation, people do not follow the path or are unable to retrace a given page.</p>
<p>So please make navigation very simple and my advice is that a <strong>website should not have more than three levels of navigation</strong>.  So if you have the ‘Home’ page or ‘About us’ or ‘Contact us’ page as level 1, just think of one more level and another level, so maximum three levels.  Anything more than that means an ineffective website that will confuse the visitors and they will end up lost in the navigation.</p>
<p>In fact, my recommendation is only two levels where you have an ‘About us’ page, a ‘Contact us’, an ‘FAQ’ page and ‘Services’ page as Level-1. If you have investors, then that deserves a separate page of its own at Level-1.</p>
<p>‘Services’ or ‘About us’ page can go one level deeper, into Level-2, to share the specific products and services on their specific pages.  But that’s where it stops and not too many levels of pages.</p>
<p>The second input is that the top-level (level 1) should not have more than 5-10 pages &#8212; that most users can understand and navigate easily.  So keep the top-level pages, which could be like ‘Home’, ‘About Us’, ‘Products/Services’, ‘FAQs’, ‘Contact’, &#8216;Blog&#8217;, etc.</p>
<p>Third input is that if you are offering any product or service, there must be an FAQ page – a separate page dedicated to answering various questions and answers that you have faced from partners, customers, prospects. So an FAQ page is a very important.</p>
<p>Fourth input is applicable if you are selling a product or service that can be bought or ordered online or by phone, then there must be a very visible ‘Order’ page at the top level.  We have found that the ‘Order’ page is often hidden at some second or third level and the website is losing sales. We have observed that by moving the Order page at the level-1 and making it prominently visible across the site, it has improved sales by anywhere from 25 to 100%.  So there’s a big benefit from a small improvement.</p>
<p>Fifth input is about Testimonials. if you are a business that has been live for some time, then you will have customer testimonials and that is another top-level page because it can really help in talking to your prospects about the benefits of your services and no other page does it better than a ‘Testimonials’ page.  So it’s a highly recommended top-level page. A very effective variant to a separate page is to have testimonials on the sidebar throughout the website.</p>

<p>Please remember that you can constantly reduce your cost of customer acquisition by having an effective website that converts your prospects by engaging them well and showing them the key benefits.  Please also note that a detailed one page website, if done properly, can beat a 25 page website that plays hide-and-seek with visitors.</p>
